Tough as nails Wave catching fun

Worth every penny. Super fun to ride and brings your wave count up no matter what the waves are like. The construction is true to its name putting your mind at ease if it’s crowded or rocky.

Love it!

Versatile performance instead of great looks

I began with a 7'6" NSP and "progressed" to a 6'6" Torq fish. While the fish worked in France I had a really hard time in the not so great waves of the North sea. So after some research I went to my local surfshop and wanted a 7'0" pickup stick. The owner advised me a 7'6" because I would catch more waves. He said I didn't have to worry about the manoeuvrability, it wouldn't be a log. He also told me it would work in a wide variety of conditions. I had a few sessions in the North sea and he turned out to be right! I needed a bit of time to get used to it but now I'm really start to feel the potential of this board. It's steady but not difficult to turn. And at this volume it glides easier in soft surf. It's got more than enough volume for me since I'm only 70 kg. But I can really use that in North sea conditions. I haven't surfed it in better conditions, like in France, yet. But I will and I'm not worried, it will do fine, maybe even better. I don't like the looks of the pickup stick but I still love it.

Love this board!

This board is such a dream to paddle it feels like it’s doing the work for you. I wanted a bigger board that friends and family could use, but I find myself reaching for it time and time again. Would love to try out the 6’6 version!

Poly's Biggest Fan

This board helped me graduate from a kook to an actual surfer.

Before buying the pick-up stick I had tried surfing two different beater boards I got off craigslist, then finally amidst encouragement and mockery from friends, I got a wavestorm. While I was able to really dial in some basics, the foamie not only made line ups harder to navigate (because mostly kooks ride foamies), it also limited my surfing. I needed a board that had a real edge, but being new-ish I still wanted familiarity. When I first looked at the board, I thought it looked similar to the foamie, and given its construction would last a long time, so I decided to just go for it. Best purchase I have ever made. Way better than a foamie. There is extra volume in the waist of the board, and when paddling for a wave the extra foam helps a lot to catch it earlier. The rocker towards the nose was nice because it kept me from pearling when dropping into steep waves, waves which the wavestorm would consistently nose dive on. This board helped me learn to move around on a board, because by having one foot on the tail and one on the volume in the middle, the board does the turning for you. When you go one foot in volume and one towards the nose, it plans and glides on even the mushiest waves. If you are looking for a board that can take you from a cheater five, to one big cut back with only two cross steps, this is the board for you. If you want a board to learn how to do the previously described action, then this is also the board that will last the thousand hours it takes to do so.
